Jang Geun Suk: ‘During filming, I fell in love with…’

During the filming of KBS2 TV ‘Jang Geun Suk – Ideal Type World Cup Special’, Jang Geun Suk made a few shocking confessions.

He confesses that he had fallen in love during drama filming.

It was during the time where I was filming ‘Hwang Jing Yi’ and it was a difficult period as I had just broken up with my girlfriend. I was too engrossed in my role and I ended up liking Han Ji Won nuna alot.

When I was filming ‘Hong Gil Dong’, I had a few kiss scenes with Sung Yuri nuna. My heart was fluttering when I filmed the scenes.

It had been proviously reported that You’re Beautiful’s Jang Geun Suk was to MC the 2009 SBS Drama Awards, but it has just been announced that his co-MC will be actress Moon Geun Young. Last year, Geun Young was the youngest actor/actress to win the SBS Drama Awards’ Daesang Award (Grand Prize) for her role in the Painter of the Wind at the age of 21. Both Geun Suk and Geun Young are 22, making them the youngest MCs to ever host the event. The Drama Awards will be held on December 31st.

Not all finalists for all the categories have been released yet. Geun Suk is nominated for Best Couple with Park Shin Hye for their role in You’re Beautiful, but they’re up against stiff competition. The other finalists in the best couple category are: Ryu Shi Won & Kim Hye Soo from Style, Lee Seung Gi & Han Hyo Joo from Brilliant Legacy, Yoo Ji Tae & Choi Ji Woo from Star’s Lovers, Jung Gyu Woon & Lee Soo Kyung from Loving You a Thousand Times, So Ji Sub & Han Ji Min from Cain and Abel, Cha Seung Won & Kim Sun Ah from City Hall, Ji Sung and Sung Yuri from Swallow the Sun, Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Min Jung from Smile, You, and Choi Joon Yong & Oh Young Shil from Temptation of Wife. Those of you that can navigate the site can actually vote once in each category.

You’re Beautiful fans might have something else to look forward to at the awards. I’m not 100% sure, but I think that Jung Yong Hwa is up for the Best Newcomer Award.

Aktor drama Boys Over Flowers berbicara soal Pulau Jeju dan mengatakan pada fansnya kalau dia senang main ski. Seorang fans berat Boys Over Flowers bertanya apakah Lee Min Ho ingin berpacaran dengan Jandi di kehidupan nyata?’.

Dia menjawab, “Apakah Lee Min Ho ingin berpacaran dengan Goo Hye Seon?” Goo Hye Seon dan aku sangat dekat. Kami seperti saudara jadi aku tidak pernah berfikir menjalin hubungan dengannya. Lee Min Ho bilang kalau di hari natal dia ingin seorang pacar. Umur tidak masalah, meskipun umurnya lebih tua, selama dia tidak terlalu tua dan punya wajah “baby face (awet muda)” maka tidak masalah. Dia mencari seseorang yang nyambung diajak bicara dan menyenangkan seperti teman.

Please forget So Yi Jeong

I did a short summary of the part regarding So Eun in one of the comments, but not everyone read it and people were asking, so I decided to translate parts of the article. Most were talked about in other interviews already, so you can refer to those if you’re curious.

Q: Even if you’re busy, you can still date (Laughs)
A: When I say I can’t date because I’m working, it makes people think like I’m using it as an excuse. However, if you look at my schedule, you would understand (laughs). Of course I think it would be nice to have a girlfriend, but why don’t I have one? When I go to the filming locations this thought vanishes instantly. Through the roles that I portray, I was able to experience the love in dramas. When I’m acting I will stay in that character no matter what, and become that person completely. I don’t think about other things, and I don’t even carry my cell phone. In my regular life I would also forget that I’m Kim Bum. Living a few months like this is not a good habit, but there is nothing else I can do.

Q: Will the real Kim Bum show through in your characters?
A: When I do show my true self while acting, it is because Kim Bum is really exhausted.

Q: During “Boys Over Flowers”, you were not dating fellow costar Kim So Eun, but weren’t there some rumors? However you two looked very good together in the drama.
A: I’m college classmates with Kim So Eun. She’s a cute friend. Even from before “Boys Over Flowers” we were close so we were able to act together comfortably. Therefore people misunderstand, and because of this, we would become awkward around one another sometimes.

Q: How did your supportive friends react after you debuted?
A: “Please give us your autograph!” (A round of laughter)

Q: You don’t even have a management company. How do you go to auditions?
A: They’re on the internet. By calling once I can tell the drama or movie production company’s location. When I find out I can go find it. Therefore I call everyday, and there are a lot of times when I go out to find it.

Hyun Bin's Song Picks

If you define being in your 20s as being ‘full of energy’ and ‘rashness’, then Hyun Bin could not be said to be in his 20s. When he was 22-years-old, he was Kang-gook who could curl up in front of the only man who ever accepted him in MBC TV series “Ireland” and at 24 he was Tae-woong in KBS drama “Snow Queen” who could not easily say the words ‘I love you’ because of a friend who died. And although for the first time he laughed and became angry, expressing his emotions outwardly in MBC’s “My Name is Kim Sam-soon,” he stood out because he calmly talked about his brother’s death on Sam-soon’s boat. He was the same in “Friend, Our Legend” as he stood in the midst of violence. That is the path Hyun Bin has taken as an actor ? portraying the maturity of a man in his 30s with his deep eyes and lonely-looking grin rather than the youth of a man in his 20s.

Hyun Bin showed fans another side to him with his recent film “I am Happy”. Choosing to take on the role of Man-soo with which he has no commonality to seems to be proof that Hyun Bin may be entering round 2 of his acting career. He had the determination to “try hard although not confident of doing a good job”, concentrating on the smallest details such as the timing he would shake his finger, and found fun on the set he felt was “suffocating”. He is now waiting to turn a new chapter after having asked himself the ontological question of ‘Am I happy?’

That is why the fact that Hyun Bin is only 27-years-old still comes as a surprise. Unlike many actors in their 20s who like to reveal themselves, Hyun Bin has kept himself entirely concealed in the characters he has played. Viewers only become more curious to know what his average day is like. That is why 10Asia asked the music he enjoys listening to when he is alone. It may not be everything, but at least a peak into his daily life.

1. Damien Rice “O”
The first musician Hyun Bin mentioned was Damien Rice, an artist frequently mentioned by many actors. Hyun Bin chose songs “Amie” and “The Blower’s Daughter” as his favorite songs from Rice’s album “O”. “’The Blower’s Daughter’ was the soundtrack in movie ‘Closer’ too. I really like both the music and the movie. The soothing sound of the acoustic guitar makes you feel calm but I think I listen to is a lot alone over a glass of wine or beer. (laugh)” A man standing on a desolate field sways from the breeze. And he hears a voice from nearby. This image itself produces a gloomy feeling but the lyrics “I can’t my mind off of you” shakes the listener’s heart even more.

2. Jason Mraz “Mr. A-Z”
He may have revealed his fit physique in KBS TV series “The Snow Queen” and may be a member of the celebrity baseball team Players, but the ordinary viewer may not easily relate the word ‘athletic’ with Hyun Bin. However, he is in fact a workout mania and will “stretch while listening to Damien Rice or Jason Mraz”. It is because their soothing voice and melodies helps to ease the body of tension. His song choice “Bella Luna” in particular was also used in the MBC drama “Soul Mate”. “I like K-pop songs too but I tend to listen more to American pop… I think it’s because I’m the States because of my movie,” Hyun Bin said. So we asked him if he understands English better now. He responded with a smile, “It hasn’t made much of a difference.”

3. Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow”
If Hyun Bin stretched out while listening to the two songs aforementioned, now it’s time to run. “The beat in the song makes your own heart beat faster. That’s why I listen to it a lot when working out. I can’t even tell how time flies when I’m listening to it while running on the treadmill. I was in Busan once and I had never ran like that before during an hour-long period. I’m going to try it again for an hour and a half.” The Black Eyed Peas album “The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)” that the group released for the first time in four years, topped the Billboard chart for 12 weeks straight. They have also seen explosive popularity in Korea, performing at the Pentaport Rock Festival and holding two concerts in the country.

4. Lee Seung-chul “Part 2”
27-year-old Hyun Bin, often called a so-called ‘grown-up youngster’ and mostly has older friends around him, chose Lee Seung-chul’s songs as his next pick. Hyun Bin could have mentioned Lee’s more recent songs such as “Never Ending Story” or “Love is Difficult” but instead turned to his older songs. “I’m not from his generation but for some strange reason, I find myself listening to old songs. I think my friends have had an influence on me too. (laugh) I actually don’t know the more recent songs too well. I think it’s because I always listening to the same songs or I just listen to the ones already on my i-Pod. I have to get in my van to listen to the more recent songs. (laugh)” Lee’s “1st Album Part 2” is a masterpiece which does not contain a single song that should go to waste.

5. Boohwal “Lyricism”
Lyrical ballad is actually the genre that suits Hyun Bin’s image. In that regard, Boohwal’s 10th album fits Hyun Bin like a suit. “I can just picture the emotions one is feeling while watching the person that they love leave them in ’Imagine’. And I really like Jung Dong-ha’s vocals. I also like the song “I remember” from their 25th anniversary album. I guess this is the most recent song. (laugh)” Some may know Kim Tae-won as the ‘granny’ on variety shows these days but without him, the group’s leader, Boohwal would have not been able to last for 25 years and create songs which leave lasting emotions.

Lee Min-ho: 'I Want My Next Role to be Cheerful and Fun'

"I want to play a macho guy and try my skills at melodrama as well. I want to try so many things. But since I'm still very young, the best role for me would be a cheerful one," said actor Lee Min-ho, who rose to stardom for his role in "Boys Over Flowers," at a news conference on December 15 in Taiwan. The news conference was held prior to Lee's fan meeting at the National Taiwan University.

The actor said he felt significant pressure with regard to his next role because his previous role was very popular. "Boys Over Flowers," which ended in March, recorded viewer ratings of nearly 35 percent. Lee said choosing the right role was his priority and dilemma at this point, saying, "I'm feeling pressure because everyone around me keeps asking me about my next production. I want to receive recognition for my acting skills and I want my next drama to record high viewer ratings while also receiving credit for its high quality. I hope at least one of these aspects will be realized."

Lee says he wants to receive the Best New Actor award from KBS this year. He will appear in a new TV drama early next year after choosing a new role from among three roles that he has been offered.

Lee said he had been watching the TV drama "Iris" lately and that he would like to appear in "Iris 2" if he were offered a part. He said, "I admire Lee Byung-heon for his excellent acting talent. I envy him. A candy kiss? Hmm, I haven't thought about that."

Lee had to postpone choosing his next role because of a leg injury that he received in a car accident. He said, "The surgery is done. My leg is still in bad condition. When it rains, my joints ache a lot. I head that once your cartilage is damaged, it'll never recover again. But I think I can still run in a marathon, but I'm not sure if I can finish it."

Whenever he has free time, Lee learns English and Japanese and enjoys shopping with his production crew. He also likes to ski with actor Kim Bum and Chung Il-woo. Lee said, "I feel the need to learn foreign languages because sometimes I hold fan meetings overseas. My foreign fans can't understand my jokes immediately. That's why I'm learning English and Japanese. I'm learning English from my sister, who majored in English. My skills are still similar to those of a 3-year old."

[BERITA] Lee Min Ho “Pacar untuk Hadiah Natal”

Aktor Lee Min Ho yang punya acara jumpa fans di Taiwan, mengungkapkan bahwa ia ingin seorang pacar untuk hadiah natalnya. Pada 15 Desember, selama wawancara di Hotel Westin Taiwan, Lee Min Ho ditanya tentang rencananya untuk Natal. Dia menjawab kalau dia berharap bisa bekerja dan untuk hadiah Natal dia ingin seorang pacar.

Lee Min Ho bilang, dia “tidak peduli soal umur.” Selanjutnya dia bilang, “ Sejujurnya, tidak masalah kalau dia 12 tahun lebih tua dariku, biarpun tua, tak masalah asalkan dia kelihatan awet muda.” Dia juga memberitahu tipe idealnya. Seperti yang sudah pernah dia ungkap sebelumnya kalau, tipe idealnya adalah Song Hye Kyo. Lee Min Ho menyukai Song Hye Kyo sudah lama, dia tidak peduli kalau sekarang dia (Song Hye Kyo) berpacaran dengan Hyun Bin.

Lee Min Ho melanjutkan. “Meskipun aku masih muda, Jika aku sudah menikah, aku ingin bertemu dengan seseorang yang nyambung kalau diajak ngomong, seseorang yang menyenangkan (nyaman) layaknya seorang teman.” Dia bilang dia tidak suka “merasa canggung”, jadi dia ingin bertemu seorang gadis yang sudah seperti teman lama.

Setelah berbicara tentang pernikahan, pembicaraan tentu saja beralih ke salah satu program MBC yaitu “We Got Married.” Berbeda dengan tanggapan dia yang sebelumnya kalau umur bukanlah masalah, Lee Min Ho bilang, jika dia membintangi acara “We Got Married,” dia ingin hidup dalam “pernikahan bohong-bohongan” dengan seseorang yang lebih muda dari dirinya.

Lee Min Ho bilang “semua orang yang bekerja dengannya umurnya lebih tua.” Dia menjelaskan bahwa satu-satunya orang yang lebih muda dariku adalah Kim Bum.” (Gw rasa Minho lupa kalau Park Shin Hye, Park Bo Young lebih muda dari dia ^^). Bagaimanapun juga, ketika dia ditanya siapa yang akan dia pilih diantara anggota grup penyanyi wanita, dia bilang ”Ada terlalu banyak grup penyanyi wanita, aku suka semuanya”

Lee Min Ho mengadakan jumpa fans skala besar dengan 2000 fans. Hari itu Lee Min Ho mengekspresikan perasaannya tentang kunjungan ke Taiwan, mengabulkan permohonan fansnya, dan berjabat tangan dengan mereka. Dia menyanyikan lagu My Everything dan Qing Fei Dei Yi, mendapatkan tanggapan yang hangat.

P.S: We Got Married adalah salah satu variety show tentang pernikahan bohong-bohongan. Jadi aktor/aktris dan penyanyi dipasangkan untuk hidup bersama layaknya pasangan suami-istri selama beberapa minggu ketika syuting acara itu. Setelah masa kontraknya selesai, mereka kembali ke kehidupannya masing-masing.

[BERITA] Fans Taiwan Mencubit Pantat Lee Min Ho

Pada tanggal 15 Desember, Lee Min Ho menyelenggarakan jumpa fans di Taipei, Taiwan. Sebelum acara jumpa fans ada konferensi pers di Hotel Westin Taipei. Pada saat konferensi pers, Lee Min Ho mengungkapkan: ”Walaupun sebelumnya aku pernah datang ke Taiwan untuk promosi dramaku, kali ini aku datang sendiri untuk bertemu fansku secara langsung. Walaupun kemampuan menyanyiku buruk, aku harap semua orang dapat merasakan kalau aku menarik.”

Pada hari yang sama jam 8 malam, Lee Min Ho tampil di Stadium Universitas Nasional Taiwan di sesi acara jumpa fansnya. Dia menyanyikan 2 lagu yaitu soundtrack dari drama Boys Over Flowers ’My Everything’ dan tema utama lagu Meteor Garden (BOF) ‘Qing Fei Dei Yi’

Lee Min Ho bilang kalau pesona terbaiknya adalah keramahannya. Dia melajutkan: ”Walaupun ada naskah utnuk sesi jumpa fans, aku tidak benar-benar membacanya. Aku sering bercanda membuat lelucon jadi bisa melewatkan waktu lebih mudah. Oleh karena itu aku berharap dapat belajar bahasa asing lebih banyak. Karena jika aku mengatakan sebuah lelucon bahasa Korea, artinya akan berbeda dan makan waktu banyak kalau diterjemahkan dan jika tidak ada yang tertawa, aku akan merasa sangat malu.

Kakak perempuannya Lee Min Ho bisa berbicara bahasa inggris sangat baik. Sekarang dia belajar bahasa Inggris dari kakaknya dan dia bilang hal ini memalukan karena kemampuan bahasa Inggrisnya masih dalam level sangat dasar.

“Boys Over Flowers’ mendapatkan popularitas yang tinggi di Taiwan dan Jepang. Lee Min Ho bilang: “Dibandingkan dengan fans Jepang, fans Korea dan Taiwan lebih agresif dalam menunjukkan kecintaannya. Dia tersenyum dan bilang: “Ketika aku sedang di kantor imigrasi bandara, seorang penggemar mencubitku dipantat. Aku langsung menoleh ke belakang untuk melihat tapi orang itu sudah menghilang. Sekarang sepertinya aku mengerti bagaimana perasaan wanita ketika mereka telah dilecekan secara seksual karena aku punya pengalaman seperti itu.

Lee Min Ho tidak pernah ketinggalan satupun episode drama IRIS, dia bilang: ”Aku melihat Lee Byun Hun sebagai model panutan. Jika tim produksi memintaku untuk berakting di ”IRIS 2”, aku akan mempertimbangkannya. Meskipun aku menerima banyak dukungan dari drama Boys Over Flowers tapi hal itu juga bisa jadi beban berat karena dramaku yang selanjutnya harus sangat sukses juga. Sekarang aku sedang memilih dramaku selanjutnya, semoga dapat melihat semua orang secepatnya di pertengahan pertama tahun depan.

Ketika ditanya apakah Goo Hye Seon (yang sedang menyiapkan membuat sebuah film) akan memintanya untuk berakting di filmnya, akankah dia menerima ajakan itu? Lee Min Ho tertawa dan bilang: ”Suatu kali dia pernah menunjukkan padaku naskahnya dan aku bilang padanya kalau aku sedang sibuk.
